About the Author

RBD is a Haitian American poet, activist, and educator whose work centers around exploring the power of love, desire, and loss in its many forms. Drawing on her own Haitian American heritage and her master’s degree in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution from Columbia University, RBD speaks passionately on pressing topics such as broken relationships, traditions, and some lived and priceless moments.

RBD is the founder of KLE Identite Haiti, an online platform focusing on the beauty of Haitian culture and raising awareness of the ongoing struggle for social justice. Through her book of poetry, "Oh Lord I Have Sinned," RBD shares her own intimate story through her words and journeys through the depths of her emotions and experiences, reflecting on the struggles and joys of life. Through her inspiring imagery, RBD defies traditional taboos of talking about sex and encourages readers to open and partake in meaningful nontraditional conversations. RBD's work has been featured in the Women's Press Collective magazine.

Outside of writing, RBD is also a self-taught artist and painter, a passionate about Haitian Folklore, Salsa, and Bachata. She lives in New York and Fort Lauderdale, and can be found passionately carrying out the mission to ignite hope, foster connection, and inspire change.
