As a child, S.G. (Sally) Byrd delighted in the worlds created by C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and George MacDonald. Graduating from Duke University in 1973 with a double major in English and Religion, she drove a bookmobile in West Virginia for a year. Then she married Bob Byrd and they had three children, Stephen, Sarah, and Elizabeth. Now she has four grandchildren, Ashley, Boaz, Enoch, and Abby. Sally and Bob live in Durham, North Carolina.
