The deceptively titled Playlist: Very Best of Journey, which on the surface looks like a perfectly acceptable career retrospective, is actually a straight-up reissue of 1998's Greatest Hits Live, a 17-track collection of live tracks culled from performances that took place during the band's early -'80s arena rock heydays. A decent concert album, listeners looking for a proper Journey studio anthology would be better off with 2001's excellent Essential Journey. ~ James Christopher Monger
