The cover artwork for Freddie Gibbs' 2018 commercial mixtape Freddie is an homage to Teddy Pendergrass' 1979 album Teddy, but it's not exactly an album of quiet storm ballads, despite the sexual themes of some of its songs. Instead, it's a focused set of trap-influenced tracks showcasing Gibbs' flow at its most energized. The release includes guest appearances by 03 Greedo (on "Death Row") as well as Cassie Jo Craig and Gibbs' daughter Irie Jane (on "Diamonds 2"). Freddie charted in the Billboard 200 following its June 2018 release.
