About the Author

In the course of nearly 50 years, Norman Rockwell (1894–1978) created 327 covers for The Saturday Evening Post. The beloved painter and illustrator possessed a special gift for recapturing the idealistic spirit behind American culture as well as heartwarming and poignant incidents of everyday life. In 1977 Rockwell was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the United States' highest civilian honor, for his "vivid and affectionate portraits of our country."
