The follow-up to her breakout 2017 debut, Carly Pearce's eponymous second album finds the country singer/songwriter again marrying a traditional country and bluegrass aesthetic with progressive pop production courtesy or returning producer Busbee. Led by the heartfelt Lee Brice duet "I Hope You're Happy Now" and the more pop-driven "Closer to You," the album explores the emotional ups and downs of Pearce's life since the success of her first release. It is also dedicated to Busbee, who died of cancer just prior to the album's February 2020 release. ~ Timothy Monger
