About the Author

Michael Molcher is a comics journalist.
Michael Molcher is a journalist, publicist, and podcaster. Previously a local newspaper reporter and then a government shill, he has been the publicity manager for 2000 AD for more than a decade. He has written extensively about comics for SFX, Comic Heroes, politics.co.uk, 2000 AD, and the Judge Dredd Megazine, and has interviewed in-depth many of the writers and artists who have worked for 2000 AD over its forty-five year history. Between 2015 and 2018 he produced an extensive series of critical pieces on Judge Dredd for Hachette Partwork’s Judge Dredd: The Mega Collection series.

Perhaps the most widely respected comic writer of the modern era, Alan Moore’s contribution to the comics world is incalculable. Creator of some of 2000 AD’s most popular series, including Abelard Snazz, The Ballad of Halo Jones, D.R. & Quinch and Skizz, he has also worked on A.B.C. Warriors, Ro-Busters, Rogue Trooper, Ro-Jaws’ Robo-Tales, Tharg the Mighty, Time Twisters and several one-off strips.

Outside of the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic, Moore is best known for his work on the classic Watchmen, which redefined the superhero genre in 1986, but this is simply touching the surface of a career which has included 1963, A1’s Warpsmiths, Bojeffries Saga and Maxwell the Magic Cat, AARGH!, Batman, Big Numbers, Brought to Light, Captain Britain, Deathblow, Flesh and Bones, From Hell, Glory, Green Lantern Corps, Lost Girls, Miracleman, A Small Killing, Snakes and Ladders, Spawn, Supreme, Swamp Thing, Superman , V For Vendetta, WildC.A.T.S. and Youngblood.

Moore is now owner and chief writer of the America’s Best Comics line, distributed by WildStorm, and including Promethea, Tom Strong, Tomorrow Stories, Top Ten and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, which has been made into a major Hollywood movie.

Since his Future Shock debut in Prog 37, Brett Ewins has been one of the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic’s most beloved artists. Co-creator of the classic Bad Company, Ewins has also contributed to A.B.C. Warriors, Daily Star Dredd, Judge Anderson, Judge Dredd, Kelly, Mega-City One, Rogue Trooper, Ro-Jaws, Robo-Tales and Universal Soldier.

Beyond 2000 AD, Ewins was a co-founding editor of Deadline magazine, and co-pencilled and inked the hugely acclaimed Skreemer series, which he co-created with writer Peter Milligan. He also created Johnny Nemo, which is now enjoying great success in Cyberosia Publishing’s new US edition.

Liam Sharp is the co-creator of recurring, pint-sized Judge Dredd villain P.J. Maybe. He has also illustrated A.B.C. Warriors, Finn and Tharg’s Future Shocks. Beyond 2000 AD, his work includes Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Possessed, Death’s Head II, The Incredible Hulk, Magik, Spiderman, Manthing, Spawn: The Dark Ages, Frazetta’s The Death Dealer and X-Men titles. Liam has also worked on the critically acclaimed Vertigo series Testament with best-selling author Douglas Rushkoff. He also set up Mam Tor publishing with his wife Christina, and produced Sharpenings; The Art of Liam Sharp, and the award-winning anthology Event Horizon.

John Higgins is a multi-talented 2000 AD artist and writer; as well as scripting a Future Shock and Judge Dredd, Higgins has illustrated Chopper, Freaks, One-Offs, Tharg the Mighty and Time Twisters.

His work outside the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic is also highly respected, and he has contributed to some of the most important series of recent times, including working as a colourist on the modern superhero classic Watchmen, and on Vertigo’s Animal Man, Hellblazer and Pride and Joy.

Colin Wilson has gone from iconic status at 2000 AD to European superstardom as the artist of Moebius’ classic western, Young Blueberry. For the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic, Wilson was a key early Rogue Trooper artist. He has also pencilled Future Shocks, Judge Dredd, Pulp Sci-Fi, Tor Cyan, as well crime series, Du Plomb Dans La Tete (Headshot), for French publisher Casterman.
Dylan Teague is the co-creator of Rose O’Rion, and has pencilled or inked Carver Hale, Future Shocks, Judge Dredd, Judge Inaba, Mean Machine, Middenface McNulty, Pulp Sci-Fi, Rogue Trooper, Vector 13 and Wardog.
Peter Doherty is primarily known to fans of the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic as artist of the Young Death series, which opened the Judge Dredd: Megazine’s first volume, but he has also contributed extensively to Judge Dredd, working on the epic Judgment Day as well as many shorter stories, including John Wagner’s classic ‘Bury My Knee At Wounded Heart’. Outside of 2000 AD, Doherty’s comic work includes The Dreaming, Superman/Batman: World’s Finest and a Grendel Tales series and Shaolin Cowboy.
